June 2012 Meeting — Professor Maurice Eisenstein, PhD

An Evening with Professor Maurice Eisenstein, Ph.D.,
Associate Professor
of Political Science at
Purdue University in Calumet

Whitley County Patriots invite everyone to come together at Columbia City Church of the Nazarene, 506 North Main Street on Tuesday June 5 at 7:00 p.m. for an evening with Professor Maurice Eisenstein, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science, Purdue University Calumet.

Perhaps you have read of controversy surrounding Professor Eisenstein and his battle for free speech at state-funded Purdue University.

Student protesters demand professor’s resignation
Students angered over decision on Eisenstein

Eisenstein to be “reprimanded” for unprofessional comments

Protests in defense of Muslims and the Islamic religion were launched last fall by Purdue Calumet students in response to anti-Muslim comments and alleged religious harassment from Professor Eisenstein, an orthodox Jew and conservative.

Barbaric Islamic activities are often in the news, yet the majority of people in this world are silent regardless of their religion. Professors often disparage Christianity but that is not reason for their removal.  It is part of a learning process.

Dr. Eisenstein claims Purdue University has accepted the Muslim notion of “being offended” as a legal definition. “If you offend the religion in any way you are liable.” Though the school probe cleared him, he has sued claiming they violated his free speech rights on Islam.

The Supreme Court has indicated, “If free speech is chilled at a university it cannot continue to be an institution of higher learning.”

This is a chance to hear Professor Maurice Eisenstein’s presentation about implementation of Sharia law; events at institutes of higher learning; and his views about current conflicts in our country.  These issues are not going away any time soon and they certainly require understanding and awareness.
