Whitley County Patriots — Monthly Meeting Sept. 6, 2011 — Energy Forum

The public and area media are encouraged to attend a special Energy Forum at 7:00 p.m. on September 6 at Church of The Nazarene, 506 North Main Street, Columbia City.  Discussion will revolve around the future of energy availability for every area household and business.
  • What will happen if winter blackouts occur?
  • What is “the grid”?
  • Where does our power come from?
  • Have coal generating plants been shut down?
  • What is being done to ensure that power supplies keep up with demand?
Whitley County Patriots extend an invitation to everyone concerned about energy issues.  Responses to questions will be aired by a panel to include Gregg Kiess, chief executive officer NEREMC; Larry Graham, NIPSCO public affairs manager N.E. Indiana; and Marc Lewis, vice president external relations, Indiana Michigan Power (AEP).   Moderator will be Dave Shenefield.  A meet and greet session with refreshments will follow.

The constitution of the United States is to receive a reasonable interpretation of its language, and its powers, keeping in view the objects and purposes, for which those powers were conferred. By a reasonable interpretation, we mean, that in case the words are susceptible of two different senses, the one strict, the other more enlarged, that should be adopted, which is most consonant with the apparent objects and intent of the Constitution. — Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833
